“The Cross on The Hill”

My approach to this project – The Cross Exhibit, 2022 - was to try to
capture the magnitude of Christ’s death on the cross and his interaction
with God at that moment. The medium I used is soft pastels and the technique
is a series very textured markings which is layered on top of base colors.
The impact of each mark and the building of colors creates the mood of
the moment. I painted a night setting and added directional light around
the cross, signifying God’s presence. The red color of the cross is
symbolic of Christ’s death and the spiritual imprint left for mankind.
